Better casual gaming laptop than the GE60?

Hello everyone!



I'm currently in the market for a laptop that can play some casual games while also have a 1080p screen resolution for my work as a doctoral student. It cannot be larger than 16" and has to be quick for the next 2-3 years. I also dont mind playing some more intensive games at 720p to improve performance.



Games include LoL, WotR, Simcity, Diablo3, Starcraft2, Dota2, Deadspace123, Masseffect123, Civ5, and more but none more intensive than these mentioned.



Anyways, I narrowed down my search to this laptop. Anyone suggest a better one for the price?



It has a 765m which is great for casual gaming.

edit: oh I forgot one very important detail! it must have a number pad! unfortunately many laptops under 16" do not have them and i require it for my work at school (lots of computations)

the only other option i've been looking at is the y510p

it has everything i need, my only concern is the 750m sli might not perform better than the 765m in games that do not support sli.

anyone see anything that gives the y510p an advantage over the ge60 besides the sli advantage in games that support it?

thanks, i've been searching quite a bit and haven't found one with an equal GPU,CPU,display,size,etc for the price.

ALOT of decent options in this one for a gamer. Killer nic, and THX sound to name a couple. I also believe the 7970m is a faster GPU, allthough the CPU will hold it back in certain games. Larger battery as well. 9 cell instead of 6 cell. 😉

looks good though according to notebookcheck "...the A10-5750M would place roughly at the level of a Core i3-2330M (Sandy Bridge)."

i'm not exactly sure how that translates to real world performance for me, but i do require lots of processing power. i run multiple excel windows computing hundreds of thousands of iterations with programs like crystal ball and @risk.

but besides the processor, it seems like a great deal with all the stuff i needed. i'll read more into the review.

Lenovo Y510 with SLI. This model has a matte screen (glossy on Y500) and the price is very reasonable. The backlit keyboard is also nice quality (GE 60 has blue backlite btw). Check gaminglaptopjunky.com they post great deals sometimes. There is also a 15% off for new newegg customers - u can use diff address/etc and up to $100 off

both have a nice backlit keyboard, and both have matte screens. the only advantage the ge60 has is the dvd driver, which doesnt really matter today, and that the 765m will perform better in games that dont support sli or in games that don't scale well with sli.

I'm currently looking at similar laptops.... the one that's currently at the top of my list is the Sager NP7352

The CPU and GPU are exactly the same as on the GE60 you linked too... The advantage for me, with the Sager is in the ability to customize it.. Like for instance, I do photo work, and I really like the optional 95% NTSC Color Gamut monitor ( $50 extra cost to get this )... but it also has a additional bay for second hard drive, and also for a mSATA SSD card, not to mention it also has a eSATA interface along with the USB 3.0 and 2.0 connectors... I'm ... very close to ordering the Sager...

I'm going to point you here, as Ibuypower,Falcon,other sites you can think of really don't have that ''bang for buck'' touch too it like http/www.xoticpc.com/ My needs are a bit more intensive, Photoshop/Streaming/Gaming So I'll have a dozen things running simultaneously at any given time so I can't afford anything less then the 700M's series
