Better laptop performing worse than a worse laptop

Hi i have an hp pavilion dm4 beats edition, with an intel i5 2430m 2.4ghz processor and radeon hd 7470m graphics card. My friend has an intel i5 processor with 2.67ghz (i dont know what the name of his processor is) he also has a radeon hd 6370m graphics card. We both recently bought max payne 3 from steam and he is getting above 60fps and i am getting around 15fps, shouldn't my laptop be performing better than his? and if not then shouldn't there be a smaller difference in fps?

Assuming you both using the exact same graphic setting and resolution, it may be a graphics driver issue. So you may want to update your drivers.

yeah i thought that would be the problem, but the thing is that i have an integrated intel card and my amd dedicated card, so whenever i try to do anything with drivers, it gets all screwed up and i usually end up breaking my laptop and having to do a system restore on it. I try to install amd drivers and it says that i have intel hardware and dont install, but if i try to install intel drivers, the intel website doesnt work. any suggestions? My friend also hasn't touched his drivers once, and his laptop is coming up 4 years old so he must have very old drivers but he runs most games fine.

not a driver issue at all lol its the laptop not switching between cards your frames would be bad if its only 15 frames using the intel

basicly it switches to intel or amd depending on what your doing its a energy saving feature
try turning your laptop into performance mode via the battery see if it switches between them

if this doesnt work
go to start menu and put in device manager

go into display driver enable amd 7470m by right click or update driver if already enabled and disable intel hd if any

now try running your game
