Black or Grey Piller Bars

I have a direct view crt 16x9 hdtv. what is better to prevent
burn-in when watching 4x3 Black or Grel Piller Bars?

Most of the time gray is better. If you are playing very dark scenes in a
movie black may be better. The important thing to remember is contrast
ratio between the image and the bars.

I have a Toshiba HD rear projection and it uses grey bars which have
faintly burned-in in my screen in less than a year.

Needless to say, I wasn't happy
