I think all cellphone makers--not just RIM--were caught with their pants down when it comes to the apps that Apple certainly made ubiquitous with cutting edge cool. That said, RIM appears to be stuck with an appearance of uncertainty when trying to tap their market. They are losing market share, they are behind on apps (and in fact have no apps specific to their system that is a *must have*), and there are few accessories that tap into the phones themselves.

They are running a very serious danger of falling into obscurity as Nokia has due to poor anticipation of their customer base, the current business market, the entertainment market, and internet usage. The stock browser coming with the phones? Almost as useless as they come.

If RIM wants to improve, they need to identify ways to build their phone into something more than what has worked in the past. I like BlackBerry devices, and have owned several. They are reliable and have always served me well. But truthfully, they are a fading product line in real danger of obsolescence unless they find ways to make their product more current, more user-interactive, and more essential to the user experience.

There is big problem with the amount of useless apps for the blackberry that iphone users get to enjoy.

The things I learned after the fact when I got my BB Bold 9000

- Of the internal 1gb memory, only 128mb is available to both the OS and the apps (raised to 256mb in the BB 9700) < are they serious? I want the hole 1gb available, I will put a 16gb memory card in for more storage; and the way to fix this is to un-install apps that you do not use. right...ok.

I want full 1080p screen.... at least take the screen from the 9700 with a lower pixel pitch, and put a second one next to it for a super high rez and come out with the storm 3.

The OS is ok, but what is up with all these different OS versions for each phone, standardize it.

did they take the survey at an all girl middle school? everyone that i know that has ever owned a blackberry has loved it. myself included.

I owned a bunch of different Blackberries. 8310, 8800, 8900, 9630, 9530 and now 9550. The phones have a lot of potential, it is just the operating system needs more tweaking. The Blackberries were designed mainly for e-mail and that is what it does best. I just wish that you can install programs on memory cards, fix the bugs in the browser, youtube quality, virtual keyboard(storm users), and memory leaks. I have played with a lot of iphones and I admit they are nice and all but you cannot customize it like you could with a Blackberry!

I don't know. I had a blackberry pearl- and I can live with just that. After it broke I got an iPhone because of it's browser and iPod. Though honestly, it's just a phone. I could care less about apple; Steve jobs can stick two fingers up his ass. Did I say 2? Better make it 3.

i use a first generation storm and loath it hard to text , screen glitches and software lock ups make daily use a pain . i gotten my during the whole 49.99 version deal. hopefuly there will be alot better options when my contract is up. i believe the android OS based phones are less problematic but in the end touch screens will have faulty texting.

I'm a college student and I absolutely love my BB. I just got the new curve on the Sprint network. I've been with Blackberry since I was a junior in high school. I'm also an avid Mac fanboy, but I could never see myself with an iPhone. Everyone I know with a Blackberry (and I know quite a few) absolutely loves theirs. This is an odd article probably written by an AT&T rep.
