Hello!
I use Boinc on 32bit windows xp now...
I read somewhere that scientific software runs(calculates) faster on 64bit system.
I only have 1gb of ram & i know that 64bits for support of 4gb and up...but will my pc crunch boinc's work unit's faster on 64bit windows?...or linux??..
thanks

I am working with World Community Grid.
My 32bit laptop, running Vista, earns about 25,000 points a week.
My desktop with an Intel i7-975 processor running Win7 Ultimate 64bit is earning over 100,000 points a week.

I assembled the desktop specifically for this purpose. And, it's working.
After I'm done tweaking the desktop, I expect to be earning about 150,000 points a week.

As for RAM, while your computer might run with only 1GB of RAM, it will be banging away on your HDD's pagefile.sys file to make up for the lack of RAM. This will also cause your system to run slower and it will ware out your HDD faster. I'd recommend increasing your RAM to at least 4GB if you plan to run at 64bits.

Good crunching...
