boot failure problem

When I first switched on my Satellite Pro Toshiba laptop after returning from a weeks holiday ,after signing in the screen went black with the message "Boot failure : a proper digital signature was not found "I have followed all instructions and entered the Bios set up facility but when I get to Boot mode that is highlighted in grey rather than blue as all the other components are. Does anyone have any ideas as I am fast running out of options. Any help greatly appreciated!

Yes it does see the hard drive

try this. remove main battery from laptop. disconnect power adapter from laptop. hold power button down for a 20 count. re-install main battery. reconnect the power adapter to laptop. turn on laptop & post results.
