Broken laptop screen

I want to connect my hp beats laptop to my samsung smart tv my laptop screen is cracked and broken in the inside i cant see and i have a password on it im using a hdmi from a ps3 could that be the problem but thats all i have

Unless I'm missing the point, it's the laptop you need to connect with HDMI to the TV and not your PS3.

There is also a key combination to send the output from the laptop screen to the external output - something like F8

Yes its the laptop i need to connect to the tv im just telling you im using a ps3 hdmi cord and i see combination key and its not working

I think the output combo is FN+F4.

It is completely possible that the cable you are trying to use isn't working or that the laptop and the TV you are trying to connect can't. It happens.

Chromebooks use Control and F4. Try that just in case.

Are we certain that a PS3 HDMI lead is wired the same way as one for a PC?
