Question Broken laptop shell interfering with charger?

Hi. Recently my keyboard shell has detached from the casing. Now, recently it has been very bad at charging. It also just says "plugged in". Not "plugged in, charging". Do I need a repair? Or is their just too many apps running?
(Edit: It doesn't seem to drain. It just takes about 5-10 minutes for a single percent of battery.)
