I am trying to fix this laptop for my sister who really needs it for college. I am about to go crazy over this thing. I bought her the toshiba satellite p75-a7200 less then 1 year ago. Past 2 months, she would get a BSOD every once in awhile. I returned it to bestbuy and toshiba and they told me it was just a bad windows installation and it just needs to be reformatted (took 1 month just to tell me this.) They returned the laptop to me with no windows 8 installed, so I am here trying to install a fresh windows 8. I disabled the correct settings in bio's to get the cd or usb to boot. Once the windows 8 logo pops up, it sits there for a little less then 1min and then I get a BSOD saying at the bottom Machine_Check_Exception. Not sure what that means, or what is wrong. Did bestbuy and toshiba lie to me?

Well that stinks... since best buy and Toshiba told me it was software... I am starting to hate windows 8 and Toshiba... Whats the best way to figure out what is causing the hardware malfunction?

I got my self hirens boot cd, so far I am on 5 hours testing memory and everything looks good, no fails. What is a good tool to test the HDD. Also what else should I run to narrow down which hardware is failing?

normally you would update your BIOS, reset it to defaults and confirm that the fans are working unplug any extra devices like USB devices and reboot.
if you get windows to boot you locate the memory .dmp file and post it on a cloud server to be looked at.

a machine check exception can be something like overclocking, overheating or bad power to the CPU. (even a bad power strip)

Finished the memory test and hdd test, both came back clean.

I updated the bios and reset the settings. I got further then before in the installation then before. I can pick a language and after that I get a BSOD Machine_Check_Exception. So now not sure what else to do...

error 0xc0000001 = {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful

not very useful, I assume it was just trying to copy files to the hard drive and failed.

have you low level formatted your drive? a full format rather than a quick format?
(a full format will locate and mark the bad sectors if it is a spinning hard drive, a quick format will only remove the file allocations)

note: this also assumes that your install image is not corrupted.
Note: normally you would not get a machine_check_exception from corruption of a binary image. (unless the corruption was on the transfer of the data)

maybe check and confirm the connections to the drive are good for the data cable.

I would attempt to run the CPU at a reduced clock rate and see if that helps.
(no turbo mode, and make sure the fans are spinning)

Alright, so I went into bio's and turned off Intel turbo yadda yadda. With doing this, I got further then I have ever before... but now I am getting whea uncorrectable error on the final steps of installation where it restarts and you do the initial setup of the settings.

This is my first time really messing around with windows 8... but is this windows 8 being weird... or is this the laptop... because this is kind of ridiculous.

Now I am getting the fail start-up screen... I tried 3 different installation methods. Tried 3 different version of windows 8 & 8.1 installation disks. When installing is something happening to the boot records?

Now when trying to get into windows installation I get hardware failure BSOD... Is this laptop done?

the error code was
Error code: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000001 (3221225473) - {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful.

I would expect that the drive did not respond. I would go into bios and make sure that some power management is not spining down the drive. I would check the cables and confirm the drive is working.
