Hello,

I am going to replace my 7 year old Dell laptop with the 2 following laptop choices below.

They are slightly used with the same price.

Lenovo Thinkpad E440
Core i5-4200M
8GB, 1TB, Intel HD 4600

vs

HP Probook 430 G2
Core i3-5005U
4GB, 500GB, Intel HD 5500

In terms of processing power, no question, the Thinkpad wins.
In terms of build quality, which do you think will last me another decade?

Thanks!

The Lenovo's build quality has that plastic type feel to it, although I like it since it is harder to scratch, etc.
The HP will obviously be thinner than the Lenovo but not by much.

The HP will be very slow and has some bad reviews to it.

Since I've had a Lenovo before I would go for that although HP is very good

The CPU is very slow.
Due to the 4GB of RAM you will find it hard to multitask (using more than one program at once)
And apparently the hard drive is slow.

So basically its slow overall.

The Lenovo has
8GB of ram which is good for multitasking or creating a virtual machine.
A better CPU and Hard drive 1TB (1000GB) where HP is 500GB
