After weeks of searching i am on the verge of buying the Lenovo Thinkpad e495. (639€)
Here is the config and price: https://www.campuspoint.de/lenovocampus-thinkpad-e495-20nea001ge-set.html
Since i had to compromise a lot to get there, I need some advice on the following questions:
  • Is this good value for price? Since ryzen 5 outperforms the intel i5-8256U significantly, i figured it to be the case, but what about models from other manufacturers (Source: https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-s...e-i5-8265U-in-the-ThinkPad-E490.423829.0.html)
  • Are there huge drawbacks in terms of build quality compared to Thinkpad T-Models?
  • Might there be a better options for me? (Max 1000€) My Thoughts are listed below:
    • Drawbacks:
      • No dedicated GPU
      • huge chin(/bottom) bezel
    • Strengths:
      • 512SSD, 16 GB RAM
      • build quality
      • Only slight Throttling
    • Non-compromisables:
      • Battery life
      • Bright, matte screen
Gave my best to be as clear as possible for you. Thank you for your time.

For the cost difference between the lower end thinkpads and the T models, there is not enough benefit to go with the T models if you are looking to save money. For other vendor models speeds, if they have the same CPU, the speeds will be the same if all else is the same.
Since you spent a long time looking already in your area, I doubt there is something better you would like for the price. If you are not using this for games then the lack of a good video card doe snot matter.
