Hi!

Okay, so; quick pre-story:

- decide to do some PC maintenance
- free up 20 GB of space
- uninstalled Avast! since it constantly removed my CS:GO exe-file and rendered me unable to play the game
- check the internet for new antivirus, decide to try out BitDefender
- I install it - it's all in german (did I download a scam version?)
- See that my disk space has gone from 27 GB free to 20-ish GB free space
- regret everything, and uninstall asap
- C-disk keep losing free disk space without me doing anything
- Go to dinner party, come back to see my C-disk only have 1,42GB free space left

So, what's up with this? Do I have a virus? I'm currently scanning my system with Windows Defender and AVG. I also downloaded TreeSize to check what is taking up disk space.:

Notice the two top files, created today, taking up huge amounts of disk space.

How can I locate them? Is it safe to right click them in TreeSize and delete them? It says they are system files, but I doubt they are what they seem to be.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to get rid of them, if they are indeed the problem. And how to get my C-disk back.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I did a disk cleanup. Only some MB to clear up. How can I delete system restore points? Disk space is down to 1,36 now. Slowly but steadily decreasing.

Google showed no results for the files:

Any other advice?

Thanks, I'll try this. How much space should I keep for System Restore points?

Okay, so apparently Windows Vista doesn't give me an option to reduce the system restore space. It's stuck on 15 % as far as I can tell.

:(

I guess my only option is to actually restore my windows to yesterdays version.

Ahhhh...this is where knowing the OS is beneficial. Don't know about Vista specifically, but you might need to be logged in with an admin account.

Yeah, forgot to mention that. Sorry. Alas, I did the recovery. Did the same cleanup i did earlier (deleting games and programs worth of 20-ish GB. It's on 2GB free space(!).

I do a disk cleanup, says I can delete temp files for 6,9GB. Delete them. 3,35GB free.

I haven't got a clue how this can be possible...

I delete 27-ish GB, and no disk space is being freed up...

Any thoughts?

Hi Vembutech, and thank you for your answer.

I can't find any "defender" in the services tab. Or should I look for services.msc in the services tab? I couldn't find that either.

After posting my last update, I uninstalled enough programs to get 10GB free space. Today I check it, and there are only 1,64 GB left. Something is taking up all my space... I can't fanthom what. If anyone can help me, I'll be most pleased.
