"C" key permenantly depressed

I have an asus laptop whose screen recently broke. I replaced the screen but when i then tried to turn the laptop on, it acted as though the c key was permenantly pressed, not allowing any other keys to be pressed. I removed the key and there was no physical blockage - it isn't physically depressed. What could be causing this? (the laptop is out of action until this problem is solved and I have deadlines coming up so please help!)

If it's a slim chiclet key like most laptops have, It's possible the rubber bump underneath the actual key has something stuck under it. Try checking again.
