Cable box problems with subwoofer

Hello,
I've been having cable box px. TW has replaced mine twice. Last time the tech said that my Bose subwoofer is too close to the box, although he was not clear about how the subwoofer was damaging the box, he blamed it. I have not been finding anything on the web so far to support this, but I'm going through boxes. Any help?

Sounds like a very lame excuse for bad cable boxes. Can't think of a possible way for the sub to make any difference to the cable box unless the sub amp is heating up the box and it would need to be right on the amp heatsink.
