Solved! can a 250ohm headphones run on my onboard soundcard?

Hi Guys,
i have a question to ask

I have an (asus rog maximus x hero wi fi ac z370)
Motherboard
and i'am planning to buy a (Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO 250ohm)

Would i need an external amp to get the full potential of the headphones ?

For onboard audio, you've got a nice rig. I always use ASUS. I have the (outdated!) CrosshaIr V Formula-Z with the ASUS Xonar Essence STX soundcard. Yes, I would say the headphones will be fine, as your MOBO onboard audio has an impedance sensor:

You may or may not need a headphone amp.

The motherboard does pay attention to audio quality but may not provide enough power to drive 250 ohm headphones. Try it first before you buy an amp.

As said no mention of an actual amp in the specs that I see but I'd try it before you buy anything. The DT 990s are on the easier to drive side of being 250ohm and they don't really scale with better equipment.

That's going to be a downgrade from your onboard. Your onboard is pretty good. 99.9% sure it will drive the 990s easily.

Why not give it a try? You have a good quality setup as-is. You're not going to damage anything by connecting headphones. Unless you're going for ear-splitting decibel levels, you should be satisfied. If not, get a dedicated good quality sound card which will have it's own headphone amp.
