Can a receiver with ARC HDMI out be connected to NON ARC HDMI in on tv??

Hi all. Can a receiver with ARC HDMI out be connected to NON ARC HDMI in on tv?? Also, the tv in question doesn't have any audio out or optical wire ports. I have plugged in the blu ray player into receiver and the ARC HDMI out to HDMI in on tv but the display on tv says no signal and the receiver display says "MUTING". Any suggestions or advise will be much appreciated. Thanks

You should be able to feed the ARC HDMI out to the non ARC TV input. I would make sure it is turned off in the receiver menu if that can be done. Did you go through the receiver setup? If not do that.
You should get sound on the receiver even if the TV does not display the picture.

Hey thanks for the tip mate. sorry i couldn't reply any sooner as i was away. Yeah the audio works now. But still no picture on tv. Any ideas what's causing the problem ??

Try plugging the bluray into the TV using the same HDMI cable that was connected to the receiver. If you get picture and sound then try a different HDMI input on the TV with the receiver. Try different HDMI cables. Good Luck.
