can a recovery disc still work if u have changed the operating system

Probably not.

It should work fine to bring the computer back to the factory settings, it won't install a new version of the new OS you put on.

The only catch is if the files for recovery were stored on a partition on the hard drive and you happened to wipe that when you installed the new OS. If that is the case, the recovery won't work.

If the recovery disk is just a bootable OS disk containing all the files you need, it should still run on the system.
