Here are my answers to the survey...

1. What is your budget?
£400 - £1000

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15-17" Preferably 17" as i want to watch videos/movies on it!

3. What screen resolution do you want?
preferably 1920 x 1080

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
desktop replacement

5. How much battery life do you need?
don't care because it will mostly be charging.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Yes i would like to play games such as TF2, Blacklight Retribution, COD BO2, Maybe BattleField 3 all on medium/high but medium is fine.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Also An HDMI is a must as i am looking to connect it to my TV.

DVD Rom writer

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Asus - I have looked and the N56VZ looked nice but it doesnt have and SSD so it was a dealbreaker
Acer - I have also looked at there V3 range which could be an option

But i am loyal to no brand in particular so any!

13. What country do you live in?
UK

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
An HDMI is a must as i plan to connect it to my TV when possible.
Also, I'd like something that looks nice and isn't too hot or heavy - not like those two inch thick brick desktop replacements. I will be using this on my lap.

HP is crap there usually filled with alot of nasty bloat software from there company which usually hogs the ram
also for a 740m thats a joke for that price lol they hyped it up because of the i7

if you look at pc world they actually list software included the first 8 programs are bloatware are absolute garbage and i find its impossible to remove of the desktop or machine without a complete reinstall plus hp whitelists there parts so you have to buy anything it has to come from hp from the drive to speakers etc lol.

i would rate there machine ok but its not worth 900 more 600 battery life is crap it has a 6 cell battery which is like 3 hours not 5.5 what the claim im bet thats if in power saving

9 cell is the medion

medion also sells this model of gpu 740m for cheaper lol is how i know it isnt a top tier card is by this

notebook tech lists gpu in order from best to least

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-670MX.82603.0.html

the medion is class 1 which is best

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-670MX.82603.0.html

now hp have crammed the class 2 card 740m

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-740M.89900.0.html

now why is gt 740m worse the gtx 670m

because its just a gt card gtx is better then gt

value for money is medion

speakers dolby home theatre and subwoofer is a plus as the website on pc world just states speakers 2 subwoofers that could mean the speakers are low quality and need 4 to get 2 performance i also find this set up you usually have 1 that doesnt actually work at all lol.

blue ray medion is best and hp doesnt even have a optical drive as stated in the pc world description which means hell no lol

laptop cooler id recomend for gaming

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermaltake-Massive-230mm-Cooling-Notebooks/dp/B005SRC5QM/ref=pd_sim_sbs_computers_7

overall the medion is alot better for the price you wont find

16gb
670mx
i7 and blue ray cheaper

i also find the fact that having the audio options on the side is its strong point and keyboard is probly more solid it does weight a bit more but its worth the hassle it probly weights more due to more features and much better build quality e.g screen connected to a barrel long hinge pretty much how a nds clam shell was designed going to guess barrel hinge which is more durable then bolting both it down to base which is what hp with 2 small hinges which could snap the base. not only does this make opening it feel like your going to break it it also tends to wobble when moving unlike the medion which will stay firm.

also side note hp gaming is alienware and we all know what overpiced rubbish is from that lol.

sorry for long post but just pointing out medions strenghths and hp and toshiba etc weaknesses which they all are guilty of shoddy build quality my toshiba is bolted down and the hinge has snapped the base. medion hinge bolt down is better due to it puts less stress on the base.
