Can anyone recommend a universal remote to replace the Rep..

My remote is getting old, and it's driving me crazy. Last time I checked,
getting a replacement from Sonic Blue (or whoever owns the ReplayTV brand
nowadays) was prohibitively expensive.

I was in Fry's Electronics today, and almost bought a universal remote. I
decided to wait and research this a bit.

Has anyone had good luck replacing their ReplayTV remote with a generic
universal remote? In particular, I'm curious about things like the skip
ahead and skip back buttons. How do these functions map to the buttons on
the universal remotes?

You might check out some of the various OneForAll learning remotes. They
are not very expensive, and should handle just about everything. Many of
them allow you to download codes over the telephone.

I purchased a new remote from ReplayTV's web site a couple months
back. It was original equipment for $29 plus a couple bucks shipping.

Not sure if they sell a remote for the older model machines though.
Mine was for the 5000 series.

The new remote can be used on an older Replay. However, there's no
'input' button on the new remote (however, there's still the trick of
programming a dummy source for that input, which you may like better
anyway).

I have the same Philips remote General K suggested and use it with my
5040 Works well and is programmable.

It looks like Replay isn't selling remotes any more. The only item
listed on the Accessories page of the web site is the Phonex jack.

I noticed that http/replaytv.us sells some universal remotes.
