can a lonovo L420 with a Core i3-2310M CPU @2.10 GHZ, Windows 7 Pro, be downgraded to XP?

Probably...if you can get a legal copy of XP. Then your only issue might be in getting Drivers that are XP compatible.

The spec of the Lenevo will happily run Windows XP but as 'clarkjd' said, you might have problems with drivers. Check Lenevo's webiste for Widnwos XP drivers for your machine, I doubt you will have any problems though.
