Can every laptop run without a battery?

I remember reading somewhere that some laptops require both the charger and some battery charge to start up. Is this the case with any modern laptops?

Not really. Modern laptops only switch to battery when they are disconnected from the charger, they can function just fine without it.

As long as the laptop is plugged into an AC outlet it will work fine.

it happend to me, my accent laptop doesnt work without the battery
it doesn't get past the boot
+ my battery is 3 years old always 0% So it doesn't really work
but my laptop wouldn't start without it

My Asus x555l does not work without the battery? I just took it out as it's defective thinking I can just use the ac adapter but I get no power at all
