Question Can I hook my laptop to a 144hz screen?

Hello Everyone,
I have an acer e15-575g. It's an old gaming laptop with a 60hz display. I've read serveral other threads regarding the whole monitor, hdmi versions, etc. All of which were too confusing to me. My laptop does have a VGA port and an hdmi port. Could I possibly get a 144hz monitor and expect "144hz compatibility" ?

You need to find out what HDMI version that system has and you can then find out what resolution and refresh rate it can run. There are a few versions of that model Acer, you will need to know specifically what model and what video card you have to find out if it can run at 144hz.
