How can I hook up my dvd player to my tv

If your mystery TV has a component-composite AV input use that. Check the TV manual on how to set it to composite.
If your mystery TV only has HDMI inputs then your options are to get an active AV to HDMI converter or get a new DVD with HDMI. I would get a new player with HDMI since you old DVD player won't look good on your new TV.
