What connector type does your iPhone have (or what model of iPhone are you using, if you don't know)? Why not just get the proper adapter instead of potentially destroying both the iPhone and whatever is connected to the other end of the HDMI cable?

Splice as take your lightening charge cable, your TV HDMI cable, cut them, tape together? <gasp!> a big FAT NO. If it was that easy how are they going to sell u an HDMI adapter^ (that works).
