can i upgrade a dell laptop that has a AMD A6 processor to a faster processor

erm, generally laptops are not upgradable generally, i wouldn't, but technically it is possible, i would have to go by manufacture recommendation on this one. give them a call see. the issue is that laptop MoBo and specifically manufactured for that laptop and pre-build manufactured don't like you switching stuff round.

You'll probably lose your warranty as well. if you still have one.
