It's a BGA(soldered socket), so while it is possible(with the right equipment and training), I doubt it's something you'd be able to do on your own.

CPU - yes, it will support others from that generation. It wasn't too hard on my Studio.

Was your studio using a BGA cpu or a PGA(pinned socket) cpu? PGA are easy to replace as they are a pinned socket.

PGA. Sorry, apparently I can't read. Yeah, soldered, you'd have to change our the whole motherboard to effectively change the CPU/graphics for that of the same model with higher tier stuff - and once you're that far in the weeds, you could probably get a better entire laptop for not that much more anyway.
