can I use a at&t flip phone sim in a t mobile samsung S2? And still have the at&t service?

I want to give my old T mobile Samsung S2 to a friend who has AT&T service. Would it be possible for her to keep her service and switch sim cards with the Samsung S2?

Switch cards and see if it works, won't hurt the phone to try it. You may need to unlock the phone through T-Mobile by contacting them and asking them to unlock the phone for other providers.
