can the intel atom support/play minecraft. or run capture card downloaded software for editing?

im looking into buying a good laptop that can support light to moderate gaming. All i would use it for is everyday browsing, Minecraft, and capture card software and editing. I need to know if the asus intel atom can support this. if not, any suggestions on an affordable laptop?

The intel Atom Is awful. Get a laptop with an i3 or i5 in it if you want to game / record with Intel.

My netbook has the Intel Atom and can play Minecraft at 1fps.

If you are looking at Atom CPUs, you are not looking for a good laptop for gaming. You need to list a budget, for games, you are looking at $500 for low settings in games (Lenovo Y40, some Acer models), for normal FPS at Medium in games about $1,000 for newer games that are not too demanding. Basically look for a video card like the NVidia 840m for games in a laptop.

It is possible to play Minecraft on a laptop with an Intel Atom CPU. But be aware that Atom CPUs are not powerful CPUs.

Below is a link to Minecraft being played on a HP Stream 11 using Optifine which has a Bay Trail generation Atom CPU; the Celeron N2840. The other link is an overall review of the laptop. It is too weak to be used to capture video or edit video both are pretty CPU demanding tasks.

Yeah, sure you can potentially play some games on a laptop with an Atom CPU, but you can't expect much from it. Generally speaking if you want basic gaming and the ability to do video editing decently, then you need to spend a bit more money to at least get a laptop with a Core i5 CPU which will generally cost around $500 and will only have integrated graphics. For a laptop with dedicated graphics you need to spend $600 unless there is some type of sale going on.
