Can you hook up a JVC/DVD player surround sound. ( DVD player doesn't work) can you hook up another DVD player to it

Jvc # TH-M603 Wanting to hook up a Blu Ray player to it. And have the surround sound come through

Assuming you have the JVC connected to the optical audio output of your TV and the TV passes surround sound then you would connect the new player to the TV with HDMI.
