Can you unlock an encrypted folder?

Hello,

A friend locked a folder on his external drive and now cannot remember the key to unlock it. Is there a way to remove that key or unlock that folder?

Sure is, enter the right password. No one here is gonna assist you in removing any security for any reason.

He'll just have to remember the key for it. If it were easy to break the encryption, it wouldn't be much use, would it?

Problem is he can't remember his own password. Wanted to help him out. This person is not the most organized person in the world so it is not surprising that he cannot remember his own password. Obviously it is important enough for him to password protect it so it sounds like he is going to learn a very painful and costly lesson from this.
