cannot copy paste in excel 2010

up until 10 days ago, I was able to copy and paste a portion of one workbook into another open excel file. Now I cannot unless I paste it as text. I loose all formatting when doing this.

Does it still behave that way if you use the Paste Special option and choose one of the options - try Paste all?
