Cannot type some characters on the keyboard of my ASUS laptop

I have just purchased Asus TP300L, and the first time I try it, it will not type @ and #, instead, it gave me " and £. Now I have to use the touchscreen keyboard. What should I do?

You have an international keyboard layout set to UK layout. 2 and 3 on a UK keyboard correspond to " and £.

To change it in windows 8.1 go into control panel and find the languages option. In their you can change the keyboard layout. I would change it from English UK (your current settings) to English US
