I have a peculiar issue with my canon 1D Mk3. The shutter speed does not show a reading beyond 1/300 in all modes(manual/aperture or shutter priority) , irrespective of the ISO reading. Also the flash indicator is constantly highlighted in the viewfinder. To me it appears that the camera has identified that a flash is mounted and sync speed has been set to 1/300. I have reset all custom functions , but same issue persists. Otherwise the camera output is perfect.
Is this a hardware or software issue? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a flash or anything else mounted on the hotshoe? If not, try wiping down the shoe with rubbing alcohol and making sure nothing is connected.

Hi, No nothing is mounted on the hotshoe. and I have cleaned the hotshoe with alcohol..
