Solved! Can't get my cd burner to work.

I just purchased an A880 Yamaha receiver. I have hooked up a turntable and a Sony cd player/recorder. I can't get the recorder to copy from the turntable. I have come out of pre amp zone 2 and hooked it to the input of the recorder. I have set it to phonograph but it only records the radio. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

You have to select phono as the source for zone 2 not the main zone. Sounds like the radio is selected now.

I have selected phono as the source for zone 2 and it still records the radio. I even selected zone 2 first then phono and it does the same thing. Someone told me it has to do with new receivers and copyrights.

It has nothing to do with copyright. Zone 2 is for remote speakers (not specifically recording) and there is no such thing as analog DRM.
I would suggest you call Yamaha. There may be a step that isn't obvious in the owners manual for changing the zone 2 input like hitting enter/select.

I did get the recorder working...my own stupid fault... I didn't wait till the zone 2 light stopped blinking. It took a while. But I'm still having trouble.....the cd burns but there is no volume to the cd. You have to turn it all the way up just to barely hear it. It records the radio perfectly. My recorder is pretty old. Any ideas?

There should be a recording level control on the Sony. It is very important that you not go too high. That will cause massive distortion recorded onto the disc.
