Cant hear Things

Hello, I have 4.1 speakers, setup to 2 front and 2 rear. its great apart from one part.
When I am in game, I can hear perfectly when facing someone speaking, but as soon as i turn 45 degrees to the left or right, i cant hear anything they're saying, its as if all games are set to 7.1 speakers and Im on 4.1.

Any help would be great

Did you check the sound settings in your sound card software and your games? Are the speakers hooked up properly to the sound card if you have multiple connections for surround sound?
