Can't keep screen on

I love my Note20 Ultra 5G except for one thing that drives me crazy. I can't keep the screen lit up during phone calls. Even with Always On activated it makes no difference during phone calls. I often need to bring up the keypad to input answers to questions and I've had the "are you still there" thrown at me because the screen is black and I can't get it to light up to answer on my keypad. Any solution?

There are apps that supposedly help with this (I haven't used any), like this one:

Does your phone have a "smart view" setting?

No I don't see smart view on my phone. I've installed screen alive so I'll see how it works.Thanks for your help COLgeek.

Screen alive made no difference whatsoever. My screen still goes black during phone calls and resists my efforts to make it turn back on. I wonder whether I can get a different app to handle phone calls or is this one part of the Android OS? I have Truecaller installed for messages. It didn't affect how the screen works during calls.

I do have the keep screen on while viewing turned on. i'm not always looking at my phone while on a call. i might be on the computer looking for information. so i don't know that a reset would do me any good. with the speaker turned on you can carry on a conversation wthout the phone being right beside you. it's when i need to access the keypad and the screen refuses to light up again that's the most aggravating. i see that 'double tap to turn screen on' is also on. i'll see if that works for me.
