Can't take pictures with my sony digital camera

Hello,
Can anyone help me cause I try to take pictures when I turn on my camera,but the message appear on screen to turn it off and on again,but when I do it ,this same message appear again.

Apparently the issue is with the lens getting stuck. The suggestion I keep seeing is to lightly tap the lens against a desk or table (do so at your own risk).
