Capturing video footage from sony camcorder to laptop with no i link connection

Hello,
I could do with a bit of advice. I have a Sony Camcorder which I normally connect to my laptop with an i link to download video. My new laptop does not have an i link connection, only usbs and HDMI and a monitor connection. can anyone help please?

You didn't include the model number of your camcorder or laptop.
What output options does your Sony Camcorder have?
Does your laptop have a PCMCIA card slot?
