Solved! Certain new Dvds won't play

Recently certain dvds won't play on my player. They try and try to read, and then I get an error message that says "playback feature may not exist on this disk". This has only happened with very new releases(and only some)- all my old dvds play fine. My player is a few years old-but works good-is this some new security measures- and is there a way to update my player, if so? (it is a Magnavox MWR 10D6 DVD Recorder).

It is not unusual to buy defective disks. If your old disks play fine, and the new ones do not, try playing them on another player to verify.
Also, are the new disks bluray? your old player won't play those.
