Charging a nikon d50 through usb

Is it possible to charge a Nikon D50 through its USB connection? If so it will save me a lot of money!

To charge, you need to plug in the DC-IN cable which is supplied with the camera. The USB is output. Or, take the Lithium battery out and charge it in a suitable charger designed for the purpose.
