cheap dvd player brightness

I need some help. my mom bought some cheap dvd player for christmas and it is impossible to watch anything on it because the brightness is just so high. I have found no way to adjust this on the tv or the player. The manufacturer is called oritron. Any ideas on what is going on? I watch all my dvds on my computer but it would be nice to be able to watch some with friends in the front room on the tv.

these dvd players are not all that bad. But if the brightness is too much, try reading the manual and there should be a way to change it and if not return it.
