The title says it all. Right now I have a late 2010 Macbook Air(21months old), when I first buy this laptop I have no intention of using it for Video-editing or so on. After getting this, i started liking video editing. Now that I'm going to the Multimedia school, I need a more powerful work station. Right now I'm building a PC quite high in specs, but I also need a secondary for campus use. I'm looking for a a laptop which is around $500-600, has a decent CPU and upgradable GPU and RAM. If possible not that heavy.

Cheers 😀

In most laptops now days, RAM is easily upgraded. The GPU however, may not be, at least not in your price range. In your range you're looking at a very average set up. You can probably manage a 3rd gen core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and a strictly ok GPU.

Here check this out for starters...

But remember, in your price range your options are pretty limited.
