Hello,
i have a dv9000 and it does not have a battery so i just plug the power cord into the 110 outlet. when i turn it on, the lighthe power button, it turns on and turns right off the last time it was on and i was going to turn it off, i noticed that checkdisk was checking the hard drives for consistency.

In general a computer will power up(give you the hp logo then tell you boot failure) even with a failed hard drive. I think you may have something else failing(maybe the power supply?).

You can always try without the hard drive, most laptop hard drives come out with just a few screws anyway(then the drive and its holder just slide back then can be lifted straight out).

Worst case, with the drive out, you can try to get your data back on another computer.

If it goes on then turns off, your graphics chip may be going out. The checkdisk may be bc the pc has tried to boot up unsucessfully so much, your data may be getting corrupt. Does the laptop show any lines or unusual blocks on the screen?
