Hello, I was wondering if any of you had a suggestion for this free government phone website. They give a choice of about four phones. I'm 71 and I have service with Assurance Wireless and my phone died and they don't replace their bad phones. This is the site...

look like a scam site

The issue I see is the tech age of the devices. While they may be 5G compatible, the phones may no longer receive security updates.

How you use your phone could put you at risk. For example, do you use your phone for online banking and purchases?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Well I'm 70 years old and don't have much longer so I could use it just as a telephone and use the old phone I've been using for months on line for everything else.

Understood. If you have an Android device, I would suggest the S9, assuming the site itself is legitimate.

Can't you get a replacement phone via Assurance?

No they tell me my phone is out of warranty and I would need to buy one and I think that stinks. Seeing how you questioned that site, I'm not going to learn anything the hard way, it's just not worth it for an old sick guy like me. I have COPD. Thank you for bringing that up.'Im going to go with one of the well known sites.

I've been a member here for years I believe but I haven't been on in over a year. I am so relieved you brought that up. It's just not worth me taking a chance. I thought I saw somewhere that you are one of the mods here so I'm going to forget that company and let you get back to making some real money. Lol. Thanks for taking the time for me

Hi again, COLGeek. Well, I left Assurance Wireless and thought I'd take a chance with these clowns, and I applied with them, and they never answered. I went with Airtalk Wireless, who, like these fools, promise to send a choice of great phones.

Well, because I'm an old man, they sent me a junk A56 that breaks up and sucks, so I went back to these yukyuks and applied twice. I've chopped up Airtalk Wireless online so bad they begged me to accept another phone, but after reading the worst reviews I ever read for a company, I said no thanks.

I applied two more times with this company, and they don't even answer. The best part is Assurance Wireless wouldn't replace their bad phone I had for years because it's out of warranty. But because I left them, they are now begging me to come back, and of course I'm now eligible for a new phone through them. Go figure.

What am I saying? As usual, our government will hire the biggest scumbags to screw us over and then shrug their shoulders when we get burned. So I'm just going to trust the old workhorse Assurance Wireless because if their new phone lasts half as long as the first phone I had with them for years, I will be ashes before it goes bad.

Thanks again for jumping in to help an old man. Enjoy your life, my friend. The days seem long, but the years fly by.
