Chromecast vs Roku

I am trying to cut the cable but my Roku will not stream A&E and some others because it is not supported by my cable provider. Would I be able to stream A&E to Chromecast from a tablet even if my provider doesnt support A&E streaming?

Nope. These devices don't grant you access to cable channels. They only allow you to stream things you already have access to. If you want a cable channel, you'll have to pay to get it. I'm not even sure if A&E has a streaming service.
