I've noticed that people talk about seti work units being small enough to fit inside the cache of a processor. Will the clawhammer provide a big boost since it is a 64 bit processor? I don't really understand it all that well, but if seti is mostly doing floating point math, doesn't 64 bits give you much better resolution on a decimal calculation that 32 bit. Would this result in it processing the workunit in bigger chunks, thus lowering the total Flops that are required to process a work unit?

PS. I'm halfway out of the inactive members and on my way up...Check me out, I think I'm ranked about 90 now.

Is there a synonym for thesaurus?

seti should be over as we know it by the time anyone will care about that. there is only a few months left till they move from aricebo.

Yeah, their new projects sound good though.

Yeah I am glad they are finaly going to get to use that other telescope, with all this processing power aricebo is kinda wimpy lol

Arecibo is the big one, but it's fixed and points wherever the earth is pointing basically...

After they use the other telescope (in Australia IIRC), they'll turn SETI into a huge distributed computing effort for the general science community. Cool stuff.
