closed caption

My brother has bought a Philips 32"HDTV and has the Bright House HDTV
service also. We have turned on the Closed Caption but it is not working,
any suggestions ? I have read somewhere that some of the cable boxes can be
defective, could that be it. One thing I haven't tried yet, is a dvd.

Try the DVD to determine if set is faulty. Then retrace your setup
procedures. Oft times there is confusing settings for CC. Like CC on only
when muted.

Also ----- Closed Captioning is causing me a wrath of problems from DISH and
the TV manufacturer. Sony says their TV's wont show closed captioning
coming in from a digital signal. The receiver for the digital signal must
provide the closed captioning. Maybe that is what is the problem.

I have the 42" lcd hdtv. Below is the response from Sony when I queried
why I could not receive closed captioning from the TV. I dont' have
Cablevision digital but believe it would fit the category cited by Sony.

Ouch! Thanks a lot for the info Jim! That's what I was
starting to suspect--their wording is a bit confusing
(probably meant to be) but I'm sure that's what they mean.
Darn! Now I guess I hafta rethink how to get around this
(I've really gotten to depend of CC a lot lately)--I do
think the Sony Wega seems to have the best comprimise of
picture and features otherwise. I wonder how you like your
set after being with it awhile? Are there any visible
rapid-motion blurring artifacts seen in some other lcd sets

I agree wording is confusing. My DISH 811 receiver provides the closed
captioning for all channels that have closed captioning. Not all the HD
channels have CC. Thats another issue I am fighting. In my e-mails with
TNTHD for example, I asked if there weren't others having problems with them
not having CC on thier HD channel? She said Nope, first concern. So CC
apparently not a big thing to most people. To answer your question, I have
only noticed a less vivid picture of Standard Definition programming. Not
noticed the rapid motion blurring on the HD - Really enjoy the football
games in HD. Have watched some Basketball on HDNET and not noticed any
problems either.

Thanx a lot Jim! Helps a lot--I'm very glad to hear you
don't notice blurring on motion...I think I'm convinced to
get the set, regardless of what happens with CC (I'm sure
eventually I can find a workaround if really needed--maybe
some separate CC unit that wouldn't be too expensive. Will
be keeping my old non-HD Sony too so maybe I can set it up
as CC backup too--maybe just tape programs off it and check
the tape CC if needed.) Thanks again, ...tonyC

Go to radio shack and get a Y adapter that has 2 male rca jacks on one
end and a mini femail headphone jack on the other end. This will plug
into the standard audio jacks.

The following url is for the hearing impaired. These amps have more
gain than the ones you get at best buy or radio shack.
I have the 810s and love it.

The problem that I had with this model was that it did not have enough
gain on HD programing. It also doesnt have enough high frenquency
gain, othr than that it worked great. Some of the Direct ear sets will
also work in movie theaters.

all people information i find out i have own Direct tv have SONY HD CHANNEL NO CC they not support from SONY COMPANY NOT SUPPORT CC SORRY!! I UPSET!!!!! same MGM HD NO CC they not support CC sorry !!!!! NOTHING!! i did COmplaint to MGM COMPANY CHANNEL they said SORRY SAID NO USE CC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! same SONY HD CHANNEL NO USE CC!!!
