Coaxial /analog sound conversion

Connecting coaxial sound (output) from Samsung blueray 3d player to an older analog pioneer(2005) surround system. Any ideas? Thx -can't find any detailed Infos

Just a note on those coax/toslink adpaters. I have one and it works okay-ish. You must have a audio source, obviously they won't downscale 5.1/7.1 audio to stereo for you.

Also, my unit emits a really irritating high pitch noise whenever the source device (in your case the Bluray player) is on standby or there is no source device plugged in. It's not a major issue and it may just be an issue with my particular unit, but it is annoying.

a pioneer from 2005 doesn't have a CD input with a S/PDIF???? odd. S/PDIF has been around since the 70s. not exactly cutting-edge.

This one is compatible with 5.1 channel inputs so should work fine with any input

Thx for taking the time to give some advice- ill check it out, just still not sure if the sound from the blue ray player will be transported to the surround system over an analog in ?
