Hey guys, I need to find a laptop for college that I can use for my mechanical engineering curriculum. I have a desktop, so my "heavy gaming" can be done there If you have any suggestions or think a certain brand would be best, please let me know! Here is what I'm looking for:

1. Budget: $2500

2. Size: 13-15 in. (portability is key)

3. Resolution: As best resolution as possible

4. Battery life: at least 5-6 hours

5. Games: L4D2, Diablo 3, Portal, CoD, adventure games. Medium to high settings

6. Tasks: Video editing/music production/powerpoints/documents/web surfing

7. Storage: At least 512 GB

10. Life: I need it to last through college

11. Accessories: Optical drive can be external, as well as ethernet port. Not needed on main body.

12. No brand preference

13. Country: USA

14. I'd really like to have a backlit keyboard. That is important to me.

Backlit keyboards are a given in high-end laptops. There are a few choices I would choose from:

Dell XPS 15
i7 4712HQ, 16GB DDR3, 512GB SSD, GT 750M, 3200x1800, 4.44 lbs
Battery life is not as great as advertised, but it will do for your needs. This is the mainstream option right now, and it fits your budget.

ASUS Zenbook NX500
i7 4702HQ, 16GB DDR3, 512GB SSD, GTX 850M, 3840x2160, 4.85 lbs
Battery life is supposed to be better (9 hours), and the display is fantastic. However, you will need to wait until Q4.

Razer Blade 14
i7 4702HQ, 8GB DDR3, 512GB SSD, GTX 870M, 3200x1800, 4.47 lbs
Battery life is a bit low (4 hours), but this is a hardcore gaming laptop.

...Or you could check out the 15" MacBook Pro. In my opinion, it beats all of them on specs, but of course, it's a mac.

Sadly, I have a time constraint though. Anything similar?
