Lol the spammers are trying hard to defeat the filter now. Not trying to offend but honestly, the fact that they are still here and trying so hard must mean there are a ton of idiots reading here. Because if no one ever clicks it in the months they've waged this war, they wouldn't be wasting their time trying so hard.

Proview makes flat screens and unsuccessfully tried to make a tablet computer nearly 10 years ago called the I-Pad.
This could be seen as the key term if that was the item's name - the "I-Pad" is not the "iPad". Case in point is if another store popped up calling themselves "Wall Mart" - wouldn't that be enough of a change to make a case against them inadmissible?

As much as I dislike Apple and think they reap what they sow, I can't help but cringe every time I see a "X is sueing X" article. When did getting ahead become more about your legal team than it did about your R&D team?

Interestingly, Proview sold the "global trademark" to the name to a company called IP Application Development (IPAD) for around $51,000. At the time, Proview did not know that Apple was actually behind IP Application Development.

No way! Apple may be the evil empire, but that is deliciously underhanded even for them!

I think they are link-spamming in order to cheat search engine page rankings to get their sites to the top of search results. I don't think they are relying upon THG readers for their custom, this just ensures that whenever someone searches for "Gucci Handbag" or "Air Jordan" that their fake merchandise come out top. The more sites which link to their site, the more "authoritative" their site appears to some page ranking algorithms. Hence the above spammer posts not one or two buy EIGHT links.

It's pretty pathetic. Not the lawsuit in itself, but the way they present it and the reasons that motivates it! They're basically begging for money while being arrogant. Ironic.

What a nuisance suit. I hope Apple counter sues and shuts this crap little company down. Microsoft has too much money and overpriced products, they should have sued them instead lol.

Let's flash back to a time when a company by the name of RAMBUS started up................

Sorry for being off-topic with this, but why the heck can't the admins here block anyone trying to post a link to fashiongoods? I'm not a web dev, but I'm pretty sure it can be setup to block adding a hyperlink to a spammer's site.

I actually liked my proview flatscreen. At the time when 15" flats were replacing crt's proview had a few good ones out there with a low price. I hope they win so they can continue!

Well I've noticed that using a whois query points most of the multiple different user Spam sites to a registered site in China.I did see a Spam post with the link pointing (registered) to the U.K. on just one news forum post though. The Spam is annoying though and it should be reported quickly, often to the moderators and marked down ASAP.

[citation][nom]zachary k[/nom]just because they are suing apple does not change my view on people that abuse the patent/trademark system like this, go get em apple. leave this fight to someone with a legit case.[/citation]

i tend to agree with you but this isn't the first time for apple i think it was some dispute with toshiba).....they should try apply for a trademark before announcing some name to the world...its a bullying tactic which coming from apple isnt surprising at all

Sounds like a good reason to sue Apple. With all the technology they've appropriated and called their own over the years, they deserve every lawsuit the world can muster. Unoriginal bastards.
